A Neighborhood Legacy Built by the People
Founded in 1990 from a grassroots movement to save the Lower East Side, LESPMHA is more than a housing developer—we are a community-led association dedicated to keeping our neighborhood affordable, diverse, and ethnically integrated.
What makes us unique is our Mutual Housing Model. We believe that those who live in the community should have the power to shape it. While we handle the complex day-to-day management and development of our 544+ units, our residents maintain a majority voice on our Board of Directors.
From preserving historic buildings to providing college financial aid for local students, we are committed to housing as a human right and a foundation for opportunity.
